Presentation: A very nice cigar band using a combination of gold lettering against a red background. The secondary band is gold lettering against a black background. The two bands cover a little more than 50% of the short perfecto, the wrapper is slightly veiny with a dark chocolate brown color with a hint of oily sheen to it. This sample of the Don Fernando Fabuloso Linea Maduro had about 4 weeks of rest un-cellophaned in 67% humidity.
Pre lit bouquet of chocolate croissant and tootsie roll - Interesting.

1st third – The first draw is a little tight but manageable with wavy burn line. Flavors of oak, chocolate, and salted caramel on the finish. The cigar is hitting me at a medium bodied smoke.

2nd third – The second third see the cigar hitting its stride, the draw is now perfect with billowy clouds of smoke. Salted caramel is still present but with softer notes. Earthy and darker oaky whiskey barrel notes are more dominant with a hint of unsweetened cocoa. The finish is citrusy and reminds me of eating a Lindt Mandarin orange chocolate bar. The strength is now medium+ to full, the interplay between the sweet and citrus notes are complex, but balanced. The draw and burn have remained consistently good, and the ash held firm until past the halfway mark.

Last third – The last third see the Linea Maduro Fabuloso heading deeper into dark chocolate and oaky notes, with some creaminess and spice but no harshness.
The Don Fernando Linea Maduro Fabuloso is great little find and seems completely under the radar. It is masterfully blended, and complex - really hitting the sweet pot in the second third. I would compare this to the Padron Core Line Maduro 3000 at a third of the price. Highly recommended. There are several more Don Fernando blends at Rare-Cigars that I am excited to try.
I paired the Linea Maduro Fabuloso with strong black brewed coffee.
95 out of 100
